About the game, the development and the future

Hello there! Just wanted to tell a little bit more about the game, for those who are curious about it.

This game was first developed as the practical part of my master's thesis last year. This year I decided this little project should see the light of day, so I took a bit of time to fix some of the major flaws of this chapter to publish it here. This doesn't mean that it's perfect, I still have a long list of to-dos to make it more polished, but I thought it would be nice to get a more broad feedback pool this time around.

I think it's important to mention that I, as the sole developer of this game, am primarily an artist, secondarily a game designer, thirdly a hobbyist composer, and finally a beginner-level programmer. This means that the code is beginner-level and I still need to streamline it more before moving on to the next episodes.

What about the next episodes? I'm glad you asked! I have a few ideas for a couple of episodes but I still don't have a set amount until the end, but I'm planning to release each one as soon as it's completed. One of my next steps now would be to write down a full outline of the entire game before moving on. Something I can tell you though is that in the second episode you'll play as Sire* (at least that's the plan for now)!

So, considering this all my next steps would be to:

  • Write an outline for all episodes
  • Streamline the code
  • Improve the dialogue navigation, add the option to return to the last line, and adjust text display speed
  • Improve the graphic design in general
  • Fully animate the first episode's ending cutscene
  • Make theme songs for Lumia and Mr. Caterpillar
  • Try to find voice actors
  • Improve the game's accessibility
  • General bug fixes and improvements

With that said, I can't provide a timeline for future updates right now, but I do want to keep working on this little project, even if it doesn't receive much attention.

Oh! One more thing! I'll be releasing the soundtrack very soon!

Thank you for reading and playing,

Alina

*By the way, Sire is pronounced as "seeree". I know it might sound weird, but I came up with the character when I was working on another project that was in Portuguese. It was supposed to reference the goddess Eris, but that doesn't make much sense in the current iteration of the character. The name stuck either way because it's cute :3

Forgot to add that I'll be translating it to Portuguese shortly as well!
